Bio

Aly-khan Merali is the President and Chief Financial Officer of Turnberry. Merali, who originally joined the company in 2013, directs all capital market and development activities relating to Turnberry’s multi-billion-dollar portfolio of hospitality, retail, residential, and mixed-use assets. In performing these functions, Merali oversees the finance, development, accounting and legal divisions of the company. To date, Merali’s transactions on behalf of Turnberry are in excess of $10 billion. Merali has over 25 years of real estate investing experience. During the course of his career, Merali has held various leadership positions in diverse real estate development companies. These positions have included President and Managing Partner roles as an owner, developer, and operator of select and full-service hotels across the country and as Chief Investment Officer for a luxury hotel and branded residential development platform with a portfolio of assets that spanned North America, Europe and the Caribbean. Merali has served on the Urban Land Institute’s Urban Development and Mixed-Use Council and has been a member of the American Hotel & Lodging Association Investment Roundtable. He is also an active member of the Young Presidents Organization and is a member of FIU’s Hospitality Advisory Board. He previously served on the West Virginia University Hospitality Advisory Council, and the Renaissance Hotels, ALOFT and Homewood Suites Franchise Advisory Councils. Merali earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Simon Fraser University in Canada and a master’s degree with a focus in real estate finance from the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University. While at Cornell, Merali was a Dean’s List student and the Vice President of the Associate Real Estate Council. He also served as a member of the Cornell Hotel School’s Young Advisory Council.
